Balamathi Temple

This post is about my trip to the Balamathi temple which is constructed for the Indian Lord Murugan.Its located in vellore,Tamilnadu. ( Tamilnadu is in India )

You can reach the temple from vellore by taking a route which goes to tiruvannamali. On the way you will be able to find a place called otteri about 5km from vellore. From otteri you have to take left and go straight crossing the children'park.

After crossing the children's park and a school you will find a road diverging and will be able to see a board displaying the directions to reach the balamathi hill temple.Its about 4 km from otteri. The mountain will also be visible from the place where the children's park is present.

After continuing your journey through the direction boards, you will be taking some twists and turns to reach this place shown above and its only a few miles to the temple from this place.A clear view of the local town will be visible from this place.

You have to climb a small hill and the road is laid in such a way that only one bus can go in the road at a time,that is the width I mean.After reching some distance you have to cross a bridge. A small dam has been constructed there to store some water but there isnt any water found at that place. Then again if you travel to some distance you will be able to see the balamathi temple on top.

About 100 steps are there to reach the temple.The lord murugan statue is visible on the image and then you should pass inside the traditional south Indian temple tower to move inside the temple.A small hamlet is there at the bottom of the temple and there are possibilities that frequent visitors will be there all the time for this temple.

Inside there are navagrahas,vallalar statues and also some of the old saints. It takes about 15 - 20 minutes from vellore by bike to reach the temple.The same time takes if you plan to reach it by car. Buses are not frequent for this place which has this temple.So some planning is needed if you wish to visit the temple for worship or as a visit.No one is allowed inside the place where the God's deities are placed.

Rajiv Gandhi Memorial - Tamilnadu - English

Rajiv Gandhi Ninaivakam / Rajiv Gandhi memorial in sriperumbudur,Tamilnadu.

Rajiv Gandhi Ninaivakam / Rajiv Gandhi memorial is situated in a place called sripreumbudur. Sriperumbudur is located at about 30 km from chennai , the capital city of Tamilnadu in India.


Right after entering there on the left there is a marble wall on which different symbols and their explainations have been made under those symbols.

These symbols represent wealth,sacrifice,truth,justice and so on.

Then if you walk straight on the path way provided you will find a stone. In that stone some words about the assasination have been sculptured. " With in a certain distance from this stone happened the sadful incident which occured in May 21,1991.The life of the prime minister from the start to end has been recalled by a broader path starting from this stone and ending to a narrow path.

After crossing the stone you will be able to see the Indian national flag flying on the left side of the path.There will be similar stones in this memorial laid at different places and each will give you an information about Rajiv and also about the incidents which took place in his life.

At a certain distance is the place where Rajiv has been assasinated.It has been surrounded by various chakras and a huge stone on which Rajiv's image will be engraved.This place will be always calm and it will seem like a park with full of grasses surrounding the pathways,but no one will forget about the incident which has happened while visiting this place.

This stone on which the former Prime minister of India-Rajiv Gandhi's picture has been engraved. A security guard will be seated there at the place.The security guards will check at the entrance also to ensure that no offensive item is carried by the visitors inside and your bags will have to be kept inside the security room if they wish before entering the memorial.

Behind that is the way for exit.There an artificial waterfalls is present on the way to exit with some indian cultural sculptures on the walls where the water is flowing.

When a mighty tree falls, it is only natural that the earth around it does shake a little

In this post we are going to see about a mini zoo which is located in the vellore district of Tamilnadu state, India.

This zoo is located at about 25 kms from the vellore.Vellore is located in south India.This zoo is on the base of the amithri forest.It has few animals and birds.It will take about 1-2 hrs to take a full visit of the entire creatures present in the zoo.

On the way

After taking a turn from the vellore-tiruvannamalai state highways take a right turn and head for amirthi.On the way you will be able to see this gate crossing in a place called kaniyambadi.Its about 12km from vellore , the place kaniyambadi which is a small village where you wont be having any attractive refreshment stalls.

Near to the forest entrance

After travelling some km from kaniyambadi you need to take right from a diversion to reach amirthi and you will able to see this huge stand alone rock from the bridge which is above the river beneath.

This is the sample image of the amirthi forest which you can see after crossing the toll of the forest department.This forest holds 4th place among the forests which is present in Tamilnadu in terms of land sharing.

Marsh crocodile 
Scientific Name :  Crocodylus Palustris
Habitat : In habit rivers,lakes and other large bodies of water.In the plants and upto 600mts in the hills throughout India.
Habit : Foods largely on water insects,snakes,frogs and fish they can catch.

Common Peafowl 
Scientific Name : Poro cristatus
Habitat : Dense scrub,deciduous jungle plain and foot hill throughout India , Ceylon & Bangladesh
Habit : Excessively shy and alert . Roost at night in large trees.Feeds on grains,vegetables shoots,lizards,insects and snakes.

Chital

Scientific Name : Axis Axis
Habitat : Chital lives in beautiful area with forest,glades and shaded streams in India.This is found all over India.This is most beautiful of all deer.
Habit : This feeds on grass,leaves and wild fruits.

Pelican
Scientific Name : Pelecanus Philippensis
This is a large squat water bird with short stout legs large webbed feet and enormous heavy flattened bill under hung throughout its length by an elastic bag of full purplish skin. They fish by co-operative effort and fly like a floating ship.

Indian Rock Python
Scientific Name : Python Molorus
Its a pyhton snake which is present all over India in the Jungles and rain forests.Its length extends from 3 - 6 mts. It reproduces during may -june season and it lays upto 100 eggs.Currently it is in the list of endangered species.
